Asana News: Custom Fields + API = Inspiring Integrations

asana-new-logoA couple of months or so ago, Asana launched custom fields that enable users to track anything that needs tracking. The new feature reflects a continuing commitment to empower teams and help them do great things together. More recently, it was announced that users can also work with custom fields using the API. This is opening great possibilities that will result in even better integrations. Indeed, users can now use custom fields in scripts and integrations, making apps work better together. If you are searching for a powerful extension to Asana, we suggest trying out our own Bridge24 for Asana.

Unito Syncs Asana and GitHub

Asana’s partners and 3rd party developers are busy trying out this new feature. In fact, Unito is one of those who tried out the custom field usage using the API. Unito is an application that works in the background allowing users to sync their different project management tools. The partnership brought about a tool that allows a two-way sync between Asana and GitHub. […]

Elevate Your Company’s Culture with Asana

asana-new-logo

Company culture is changing drastically. “Casual Fridays” are now a week long, and companies like Google are pushing the limits of employee benefits by offering perks like on-site doctor visits.

As an entrepreneur and digital agency owner, hiring the best and retaining top talent is fundamentally based on the culture our company provides. By creating a culture that blends work and non-work life, I’ve seen the success in the autonomy and leadership in our team that builds a solid foundation for growth.

Work-From-Home Days:

While not for every business, work-from-home days are becoming increasingly popular. I’ve seen companies leverage this perk to cut down on parking costs in metropolitan areas for their employees and create more room in already full office space. With account management software like Asana to internal communication software like Slack, collaboration can expand outside the office space.

Transforming Education through Internet of Things with Asana

asana-new-logo

Technology is more a catalyst than an influencer in education today.  It is increasingly changing the education landscape.  Technology consultant, Gartner projects that this year will see 6.4 billion connected things in use world over, up 30 per cent from the last. Look further at the same number in 2020 and the forecast suggests it will be close to 21 billion.

In a Forrester Research study, over 80 percent of participants said the Internet of Things (IoT) will be the most strategic technology initiative for their organization in a decade.

Managing projects better

In the workplace, elearning has become a norm as it has been proven to reduce costs, make learning faster yet more effective and boost productivity. Choosing a project management tool is one of the more important decisions an elearning team makes. One of the governing factors in making this choice is the tool’s flexibility while remaining fully functional. While there are several tools in the market, there are some that provide standout features. Google Docs pairs with any […]

Improve Efficiency and find your Business’s Productivity sweet spot with Asana

asana-new-logo

As an entrepreneur and business owner for the last 18 years, I remember well what the start-up phase is like; you wear every hat under the sun – from receptionist to doorbell-ringing salesman to production manager to accountant (if you call personally sending out homemade invoices every month being an accountant!).

Fast forward many years down the line, and I now have a large team spread across the country and my challenges are immensely different to when we were in start-up phase. For one, my team works remotely, and I need to know whether they are productive or not. The challenge of monitoring productivity while still running and growing the business, all the while constantly avoiding the trap of slipping into micro-management, has lead me to these findings.

Get the right software to help your team track orders, projects, inventory and invoices. Try and avoid multiple data capturing points as this can increase errors and be an unnecessary burden on your admin staff. Look for a single system that […]

Don’t leave home without Asana and these travel apps

asana-new-logoEven experienced travelers can become jet-lagged, bleary-eyed and disoriented when venturing into unfamiliar territory. To minimize travel anxiety, you can turn to apps that help you plot your journey.

There now are travel apps for practically every conceivable purpose. Hypochondriacs headed to a new environment can take comfort in sick weather, which alerts you — in real time — if you are entering an area known to pose high risk of contagious diseases. For the nervous flier, there’s Am I Going Down? (for iOS and Android), which calculates the probability of a crash on your particular flight. And for the solo traveller, there’s React Mobile, which allows you to share your location with contacts if you feel unsafe.

Working on the go
Taskmasters favor Asana, which acts as a space for team members to discuss projects, delegate responsibilities and create to-do lists.

How Working From Home with Asana became Just Working

asana-new-logoSomething has changed. This change has occurred so gradually that we may be having trouble noticing the shift. This change is that working from home has become – just – working. We are at a point where we can drop the “from home” descriptor that follows “working” – just as we are dropping the “digital” before “camera.” (Or “smart” before “phone”). At a time in the not so distant past the default place of work was the office. The assumption was that paid employment would take place at a place other than home. Working at home was an alternative.

Today, platforms such as Slack and Yammer blur the lines between asynchronous and synchronous communications. Our collaborative work takes place in Google Docs.  We use Asana and Basecamp to track projects and assign tasks. Without us really noticing, the technology for distributed collaboration just got much better.
