Hello Epics Power-Up Brings Card Dependencies Feature in Trello
Trello is a visual application of boards, lists and cards that enable users to flexibly manage the simplest of tasks as well as the biggest of projects. In fact, projects do get very big, to the extent that it needs to be broken down to more manageable pieces. In addition, some tasks or cards depend on other cards’ completion before they can move forward. These are dependencies, and people refer to them as parent/child relationships. In agile development, they use the terms epics and stories.
Substantial, a digital product studio, uses Trello for managing their software projects. In their work, they have encountered difficulty in seeing a high-level view of their project’s progress. They also run complicated projects that outgrew their workflow. They have always wanted to create parent/child relationships in their boards. But instead of using existing plugins, they created the Hello Epics Power-Up. Now, they see all related items, and quickly realize what work is left to […]

Jason Fried, CEO of Basecamp
Introducing Jason Fried
Jason Fried received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance at the University of Arizona. However, he was already writing and selling software during his student days. One of the first ones he wrote was a music collection organizer in FileMaker Pro on a Macintosh computer. He wrote it mainly for his own use but then decided to upload it in case others would buy it. And others did. Basically, that is how his software business started, which led him to start Basecamp.
The Basecamp Software
Basecamp is a web-based project management tool created by a web design company based in Chicago originally called 37signals. The PM tool initially was for their own use and the co-founder Jason Fried decided to make it available commercially when their customers and other people expressed their interest to use it, too. In 2014, the company renamed itself Basecamp after its flagship product, with a focus on maintaining and improving its project […]

Basecamp Launched Message Types, List View for Projects and Teams

With a centralized online workspace, users go to just one application where everyone gets informed of what to do, knows where their projects stand, and finds what they need to get work done. The development team also continuously observes and studies how customers use their applications and create innovations in order to turn them to full-fledged features. Recently, they launched Message Types and List View as the latest features available in Basecamp 3. For a great extension to Basecamp, we recommend you use our own tool Bridge24 for Basecamp.
Previous Workaround, Now A Feature for All
The latest innovation-turned-feature was a workaround that users in Basecamp themselves have been doing. In order to emphasize the purpose of a post, users have been prefixing the subjects of their posts with different types of emojis. For instance, they put a loudspeaker emoji in front of announcements. Similarly, they put a […]
